Realizing the potential of remote sensing techniques, the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, India took the lead in establishing the first state level Remote Sensing Applications Centre, U.P. at Lucknow. Remote Sensing Applications Centre, Uttar Pradesh was formally established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh as an autonmous organization in May, 1982, registered under the Societies. Registration Act, 1960, for the purpose of utilizing the newly developing technology of remote sensing in better management of the entire gamut of natural resources. The fundamental aim of establishing the Centre was to use the emerging technology of aerial and satellite remote sensing in conjunction with conventional methodologies in different natural resources management programmes. This Centre was also aimed to act as an interface between the high technology of remote sensing and the actual end user.
Eligibility Criteria:Candidates must have a valid GATE score.Candidates must have passed B.E/B.Tech in their respective disciplines with a minimum of 60% in aggregate (54% of SC/ST/PwD candidates).Non GATE candidates will be given admissions on the basis of their Qualifying Exam Marks for the vacant seats left after allotment to GATE candidates

To keep pace with time and technology the division has rolled-out IT solutions chronologically. Super mini (on VAX 11/780, VMS based; VIPS32 digital image processing solution). RISC based Client-Server (on HP 9000 and SGI O2, HP-UX and IRIX based; EASI/PACE, GEOMATICA, ERDAS, ENVI digital image processing solution; and Arc/Info Geographical Information System). INTEL based Client-Server ( on Super server , win 2K advanced server; GEOMATICA, ERDAS, ENVI digital image processing solution and ArcInfo Geographical Information System, SDE, ORACLE, CITRIX metaframe Xpa )which are networked with O.F.C. backbone and CAT 5 UTP cable on IEEE802.3 LAN standard. Presently Lab augmented to state-of-the-art data-centre and work-centre. The data-centre has been equipped with rack-mounted components i.e. latest xeon multi core multi socket servers (64 bit, Win Serv. 2008 R2 enterprise), network attached storage, adaptive security appliance, router and switches. This provides centralised geospatial solution. The work-centre has been equipped with latest Xeon based workstations (64 bit, Win7), desktops, wide format colour scanner (scan width: 1065mm), wide format colour plotter (print width: 1130mm) . This provides access to harness ArcGIS, ERDAS, Geomatica, ENVI and Leica photogrammatry suite.

RSAC-UP Library has large collection of books and journals in the field of Remote Sensing, G.I.S. and various application areas. Library subscribes several important International and Indian journals both in print as well as e-journal and books on Remote Sensing, GIS and their applications for various natural recourses. The Library serves the information needs of library members which comprise of scientists, officers & researchers in addition to research students & staff members of other Govt/Semi Govt institutes and universities. Currently library subscribes 24 International journals and several national journals. The library has collection of 8591 books besides many dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlases, technical reports, multimedia C.D.’s etc. RSAC-UP Library has wide collection of documents in the form of books, proceeding, reports etc. pertaining to the applications of Remote Sensing and G.I.S. in the field of Agriculture, Geology, Forestry, Water Resources, Land use, Urban services, environmental science etc. RSAC-UP Library has created a database in TLS software, RSAC UP Library provide reference services to its users besides lending of books, periodicals, atlases etc. Photocopy of articles and other reference materials from its collection are also provided to users.
The institute also has a tie-up with medical professionals & hospitals to respond any medical contingency.
Students have the facility of indoor & outdoor games e.g. cricket, football, table-tennis, badminton, etc.
>CAFETERIA: canteenSufficient area has been earmarked in cafeteria, stocked with popular items to provide refreshing breaks for the students within the campus itself.
>TRANSPORT: transportThe Colleges provide bus transportation for the benefit of students. A fleet of vehicles ply between the college and all important points in the city in order that students may not be dependant on public transportation. The fees have been subsidized to reduce the burden on students. Railway/ AIR Concessions: Deserving Students of the college are entitled for availing concessions on air/rail travel from time to time as applicable.
>GYMNASIUM: College gymnasium has a main workout area, which primarily consists of free weights including dumbbells, barbells and exercise machines. This area often includes mirrors so that exercisers can monitor and maintain correct posture during their workout.
>AUDITORIUM: This is an exquisite part of the college which aims to conduct Seminars, Workshops, Symposiums, Faculty Development Programs, Annual day Celebrations. This massive Hall is characterised by an eye-catching architecture which creates inspiration for viewers. This hall provides space for the accommodation of more than 500 people.
